Upper Mustang Trek

Upper Mustang Trek is a distinctly separated region of Nepal, protected from tourism by its remote location, which only adds to its appeal for the adventurous trekker.

Due to its proximity to the northern border it draws many historic, cultural and religious traditions from Tibet and was long a prohibited route for trekkers and still remains restricted. In the shadow of the Annapurnas, yet hidden in the folds of the Trans-Himalaya, Mustang is immersed in harsh climate, which has produced some spectacular scenery. A challenging and strenuous trek through arid desert valleys, past hidden cave shrines and into walled villages. In May our Mustang trek attends the Tiji Festival, a celebration of dance and ritual to expel demons. The Loba people of Mustang boast a proud history, dating back to the 5th Century A.D.
